Network Accounts - Novell, Lexis, Westlaw, Wireless

Upon admittance to Seton Hall Law School, all students are provided with a local Novell network account that allows access to resources at over 100 computer stations in our labs and library, as well as local printers and our school-wide wireless network. From our stations you can access your personal F drive where you can store documents, access local programs and connect to the Internet at high speed.

Accessing Your Novell Account from Lab and Library workstations

To access your local Novell account on computer lab and library workstations, please login with your login code and password.  Your login code (also known as your shortname) is an 8 letter code usually consisting of the first 6 letters of your LAST name and the first 2 of your FIRST name. If your last name is less than 6 letters then you code is your entire last name and as much of your first name as you can until you reach 8 letters. (Ex: SMITHJOE for Joe Smith).  If your last and first name together do not consist of 8 letters, then use your entire last name and first name. (Ex. BELLJOE for Joe Bell).

Your first time password is a combination of the first 4 disgits of your last name in CAPs, then the last 4 of your social security number, then the "#" sign. (Ex. BELL0000#)

Your local Novell network account allows you access to all core programs available on our public lab and library stations, local printing and access to our law school wireless system. Your account also provides you with up to 250 mb of storage space on our network drives for files and other data in a private home directory known as F:\STUDENTS\(your login code). (Ex. F:\STUDENTS\SMITHJOE)  Network storage space is designed for saving data such as word processing documents, pdfs and other school related documents. Please do not use this space for game storage, .exe files, Jpgs, pics or any other picture or movie files, or any other non-school related documents.

Please note that your local Novell account and your PirateNet/LawNet account are two separate accounts and have two separate passwords.  While both accounts have the same login and start with the same passwordchanging one account's password does not change the other.  This is by design, as one account is for local, in law school resources while the other is for portal, outside law school resources.
