Seton Hall Law plays pivotal role in NJ’s death penalty “Abolition Day

At Governor Corzine’s bill signing ceremony for NJ’s first-in-the-nation law abolishing the death penalty, members of the Seton Hall community were recognized for their pivotal roles. Two of the four prime sponsors are professors at Seton Hall Law School, Assemblyman Wilfredo Caraballo and Senator Robert Martin, and a third, Assemblyman/Senator-elect Kip Bateman, is a graduate. Senator Martin attributed his inspiration to seek repeal of the death penalty to Sr. Helen Prejean’s address at a Law School commencement a decade ago.
