FINANCIAL AID INFORMATION FOR MSJ AND ONLINE GRADUATE CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS

SCHOLARSHIPS:

Scholarships and discounts may be available for either the Graduate Certificate Programs or the MSJ degree program.

Alumni Discount:

Alumni who have received a degree from Seton Hall University are eligible for a 10% tuition discount. Applicants must indicate alumni status on the student’s initial admissions application.

Government Discount:

Full-time federal and state employees are eligible for a 10% tuition discount provided the discount is requested at the time of the student’s initial application and verification of the student’s employment status is provided prior to the start date of the online Graduate Certificate Program.

Corporate Discount:

A 10% discount per student is available to employers who have three (3) or more employees registered for one of Seton Hall Law School’s online Graduate Certificate Programs in the same semester (Fall, Spring or Summer) provided all three employees apply to, pay for and begin their online Graduate Certificate Programs in the same semester. The discount will be applied to each employee’s tuition provided the employee listed the employer on his or her initial application. Discounts will only be applied in the semester during which the employees are registered and will not be applied retroactively or prospectively.

A 25% discount per student will be awarded to employers who have six (6) or more employees registered for one of Seton Hall Law School’s online Graduate Certificate Programs in the same semester (Fall, Spring or Summer) provided all six employees apply to, pay for and begin their online Graduate Certificate Programs in the same semester. The discount will be applied to each employee’s tuition provided the employee listed the employer on his or her initial application. Discounts will only be applied in the semester during which the students are registered and will not be applied retroactively or prospectively.

Graduate Program Scholarship:

A limited number of scholarships equal to 25% of tuition may be awarded each year to applicants to the online Graduate Certificate Programs and/or the Master of Science in Jurisprudence program. In order to be eligible for a Graduate Program Scholarship, an applicant must be currently employed by a government, not-for-profit or public interest entity. Scholarship applicants must have completed the regular application process before an application for a scholarship will be considered.

An application for a scholarship must be submitted in writing to lawonline@shu.edu at least one (1) month prior to the start date of the program to which the student is applying. As the number of scholarships awarded is extremely limited, applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible. The phrase “SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION” should be written in the subject line and the email should specify the Program for which the applicant is applying. The email should contain the applicant’s full name, title, employer and length of time employed. Contact information for the applicant’s employer must also be provided.

STUDENT LOANS

Federal Student loans are available for MSJ Degree Students. MSJ students may borrow Direct Unsubsidized loans to pay for tuition, fees, and living expenses. The first step in applying for financial aid is to file the FAFSA. The financial aid year begins in the fall semester and includes fall, spring, and the summer semester.

NOTE: If you are applying to begin the program in the summer 2014 semester, you must file the 2013-14 FAFSA. You may also file the 2014-15 FAFSA at the same time, which will cover the fall and spring semesters, as well as the following summer.
