FALL 2003 AUDITIONS:
Auditions for the Spring of 2004 are over, but please email
Anneke Niemira or
Mary Galioto if you are interested in auditioning in the Fall
of 2004.
Thank you for your interest!
The Audition Process
EsqChoir is a co-ed a cappella group open by audition to
all Seton Hall Law students.
Auditions are held twice per academic year, at the beginning of both the
fall and spring semesters. The audition time and place for each semester will
be posted as the information becomes available.
If you're curious about the audition process, it's laid out in great detail in
Article IV: Auditions of
EsqChoir's Constitution. This will tell
you what to expect before the audition itself.
Some students ask what sort of piece to prepare for the "solo" portion of the
audition. The most important advice is to pick a song with which you're
comfortable. Pick something you know well, enjoy, and preferably have
memorized, although this last is by no means mandatory. If you know it well,
like the song, and have it memorized, you're less likely to forget the words,
and more likely to look like you're enjoying yourself...because you are. Also,
chose something that "fits" your voice. For example, if you believe you have a
strong "chest" voice (low), but your voice tends to 'crack' when you're nervous
if you're using your 'head' voice (higher), then chose a low song where you'll
be comfortable, not a high song. Use your best judgment. And don't worry...
we understand that auditioning can be nerve-racking, and we're very friendly.
We'll do our best to make the audition process as pain-free as possible. So
come on out and show us what you've got!
