EsqChoir was founded by Anneke Niemira '05 and Mary Galioto '05 in the spring of 2003, while they were both 1Ls.

While talking during lunch one day, Mary mentioned how much she enjoyed her a cappella group at her alma mater, Binghamton University. Anneke, having missed singing with her own a cappella group at Bryn Mawr College, and who had wanted to start an a cappella group at Seton Hall Law ever since she was admitted, asked Mary if she would be interested in starting an a cappella group at Seton Hall Law. Mary agreed.

After sneaking into a bathroom (after all, what better acoustical locations are there?) to hear each other's voices, Mary and Anneke decided to hold auditions within the month.

Auditions resulted in five new members, bringing the founding group's total to seven. We picked songs, a name, and started singing.

And that's how EsqChoir was born.
