Intern, District Council 37 Municipal Employees Legal Services
New York, NY
I want to learn …more about labor and employment law while improving upon the skills that I will need to become a great courtroom advocate one day. I will gain plenty of hands-on experience. I will be interviewing and interacting with clients, while also appearing in landlord tenant court.
How did you obtain the opportunity? Through the NYU Public Interest Fair this Spring that our Office of Career Services advertised, and highly recommended that all students attend.
What will you do for fun this summer? I did quite a bit of traveling before my first day of work. Immediately after finals I visited Chapel Hill, North Carolina to watch my twin brother graduate from undergrad. Afterwards I went to Miami to visit family and to spend some time in the warm weather before I began work.

Intern, Office of the Attorney General, Division of Law: Consumer Affairs Counseling Section
I hope to...advance my legal research and writing skills through the completion of office briefs/memos. I also look forward to getting a better understanding of law in the real world by observing lawyers in action.
How did you obtain the opportunity? I obtained this opportunity through the Office of Career Services and the resume referral process.
What will you do for fun this summer? When I am not working, I hope to reconnect with friends and family I wasn’t able to see during the semester. In my free time, I want to get back in the gym and hopefully read some non-law related books.

Legal Extern, Chief Justice Stuart Rabner, Supreme Court of New Jersey Trenton, NJ
Legal Intern, Judge James B. Clark III, U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey Newark, NJ
I want to learn… As an extern in the Supreme Court of New Jersey I want to learn about the inner workings of the appellate process and further develop my legal research and writing skills. As an intern in the District Court, I am excited for the opportunity to learn about the earlier, everyday stages of the litigation process.
How did you obtain the opportunity? The Office of Career Services was invaluable to me during the summer job search process. My career counselor, Dean Jessica Miles, helped me decide where to apply and sent me information on opportunities she thought I’d be interested in, and Joe Steinberg gave me really useful feedback on my mock interview.
What will you do for fun this summer? I plan to take a few weekend trips to visit friends and family. I didn’t go to the beach at all last summer so I also hope to make up for that this year.

Summer Associate, Debevoise & Plimpton LLP
New York, NY
I want to learn… if I really want to work as a corporate transactional attorney or as a litigator. As of now, I think I have a preference toward transactional work. This summer will be a great opportunity to get firsthand experience in both fields.
How did you obtain the opportunity? Sonia Cunha of CareerServices really helped me during the OCI process. She suggested to me that even before going through the school's Fall OCI program, I reach out to major NYC firms on my own to see if they would be interested in interviewing me. I took her advice and was able to secure interviews and bypass the OCI process.
What will you do for fun this summer? I plan on relaxing and spending time with my family and friends, something that has become increasingly difficult to do during the school year. I also am planning a road trip with my boyfriend down the East Coast.
