AIG Investments


Elaine A. Rocha is the Chief Operating Officer for AIG Investments based in New York City. In this role, Elaine is responsible for leading and implementing various strategic, innovative, and talent development initiatives across Investments as well as in partnership with others across AIG. Elaine is also charged with managing the Global Investments Operations team.

Before joining Investments in 2015, Elaine was a member of AIG’s Legal Department, serving as Chief of Staff to the General Counsel. Prior to that role Elaine was Associate General Counsel and Vice President, serving as the lead attorney for several casualty and financial lines businesses within General Insurance. While in Legal, Elaine was also responsible for developing and implementing the current Summer Intern program model. Prior to joining AIG in 2010, Elaine was a Senior Associate with the law firm of Riker, Danzig, Scherer, Hyland & Perretti, LLP, where, in addition to being a member of the firm's Diversity and Recruiting committees, she also served as a mentor for the firm's summer associate program for several years. While at Riker, Elaine worked in the Insurance and Reinsurance Department, honing her insurance expertise by handling all aspects of complex insurance coverage litigation including all phases of discovery and trial for both foreign and domestic insurers. Before joining Riker, Elaine was with the law firm of Mendes & Mount, LLP, where she learned the complexities of insurance and reinsurance law by handling all aspects of multi-million dollar, multi-year, environmental and asbestos coverage claims on behalf of Equitas, Certain Underwriters at Lloyd’s of London and Certain London Market Insurers. Prior to commencing her career in private practice, Elaine completed a one-year judicial clerkship with The Honorable Philip M. Freedman, J.S.C., Superior Court of New Jersey.

Elaine received her B.A. from The College of New Jersey with distinction from the College Honors Program, and her J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law where she was an Executive Board member of the Women’s Law Forum and a member of the Law School’s Legislative Journal. Elaine is licensed to practice law in New Jersey and New York state and federal courts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, the District of Columbia, and the United States Supreme Court. She is also admitted to practice as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales. Elaine is an Emerita member of the Seton Hall Law Alumni Council, and is currently a member of the Law School’s Board of Visitors, an advisory group made up of prominent members from the public and private sector. In 2016, she was awarded the Law School Service Award at the University’s “Many Are One” Gala. Elaine also serves as an Alumni Association Board Member for The College of New Jersey.

Elaine volunteers her time through the robust AIG pro bono program by participating in the annual Street Law program. Street Law is a non-profit that creates classroom and community programs that teaches about law, democracy and human rights worldwide. Elaine also gives of her time by serving as the Risk and Social Advisor for the Lambda Xi Chapter of the Zeta Tau Alpha national sorority at Seton Hall University. In 2017, Elaine was nominated, on behalf of AIG, to attend the KPMG Women’s Leadership Summit. In addition to the Summit, Elaine was also selected to be a mentor for the KPMG Future Leaders Program. The KPMG Future Leaders are an extraordinary group of deserving and accomplished young women, most of whom are the first generation in their families to attend college. As a mentor, Elaine plays a crucial supporting role to a future leader, providing her with important guidance throughout her first year of college. Most recently, Elaine was nominated to participate in the 2018 AIG’s Women’s Executive Leadership Initiative. The purpose of the program is to provide participants with the opportunity to further their professional and personal development. Elaine is also co-Executive sponsor of the newly formed Global Women in Investments organization at AIG. The mission of the organization is to accelerate the firm’s success in attracting, developing, retaining and advancing talented women in Investments and asset management.
