Elaine A. Rocha is the Senior Vice President & Global Chief Investment Officer for AIG based in New York City. In this role, Elaine works in close partnership with leaders around the world to strengthen operating performance, to drive overall business and technology strategy, and provide oversight as well as adherence to legal, compliance, financial and audit requirements. Elaine is responsible for Operations, Technology & Data, Transformation, Finance, Business Strategy, Model Operations & Performance, Communications as well as the Project Management Office. She is also responsible for human capital management and talent development initiatives across the Investments organization in partnership with other functions and businesses across AIG.

Prior to joining Investments in 2015, Elaine was a member of AIG's Global Legal, Compliance and Regulatory (GLCR) organization, serving as Associate General Counsel and Vice President for several lines of business within General Insurance, the company’s commercial insurance business.

 

Before joining AIG in 2010, Elaine was an attorney with the law firm of Riker, Danzig, Scherer, Hyland & Perretti, where she worked in the Insurance and Reinsurance Department, handling all aspects of complex insurance coverage litigation -- including all phases of discovery and trial for both foreign and domestic insurers.

 

She received her B.A. from The College of New Jersey, and earned her J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law. She is licensed to practice law in New Jersey and New York state and federal courts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, the District of Columbia, and the United States Supreme Court. She is also admitted to practice as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales.

 

Elaine is an Emerita member of the Seton Hall Law Alumni Council (President 2015-2016), and was nominated in 2016 to the Law School's Board of Visitors, an advisory group comprised of prominent leaders from the public and private sector. She also served as an Alumni Association Board Member for The College of New Jersey from 2015 through 2018, when she was then nominated to serve on the College's Foundation Board of Directors. Elaine was then elected to the position of Vice Chair of the Foundation in June 2019.

 

Elaine has received various awards and accolades. In 2010 she was recognized as a Rising Star in New Jersey Super Lawyers, and in 2012, she was inducted into the Lyndhurst High School Athletic Hall of Fame. In 2016, Elaine was awarded the Law School Service Award, and in 2018 she was honored with the Law School's Woman of Substance Award. Most recently, she participated in the 2018 AIG's Women's Executive Leadership Initiative. She is a frequent presenter at industry events on the topics of Leadership, Mentoring and other related topics.
