Professor Perez-Vellios serves as Assistant Professor of Legal Practice and Director
of the LEO Program. Professor Perez-Vellios teaches Introduction to Lawyering I &
II, Appellate Advocacy, and Becoming a Lawyer for the Legal Education Opportunities
(LEO) program. In 2019, Professor Perez-Vellios was the recipient of the Paula Franzese
Excellence in Teaching Award.
Prior to joining Seton Hall University School of Law, Professor Perez-Vellios concentrated
her practice in the areas of employment and education law. She was Managing Director
of a consulting firm providing lawsuit prevention strategies to public and private
employers for all employment related matters, including hiring, employee retention,
leaves of absence, job performance evaluations, workplace harassment, fact investigations,
workplace violence, employee discipline and termination. Professor Perez-Vellios conducted
anti-harassment training and other workplace seminars for organizational employees
at all levels. Professor Perez-Vellios also served as contributing author for the
launch of XpertHR, a database for human resource professionals focused on federal
and state employment law compliance, and best practices for employers.
Professor Perez-Vellios graduated from Rutgers School of Law – Newark, where she served
as Senior Managing Editor of the Rutgers Law Review. She also served as a Teaching
Assistant for the Legal Research and Writing program, President of the Association
of Latin American Law Students and tutored first year students in contracts law. Following
graduation, Professor Perez-Vellios was an Associate at Reed Smith LLP where she practiced
complex commercial litigation.
Professor Perez-Vellios earned her B.A. in Latino and Hispanic Caribbean Studies from
Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey – Rutgers College.
Professor Perez-Vellios joined Seton Hall University School of Law in 2016 as an Adjunct
Professor.
