Awards, Honors, and Honorary Degrees 1948-1988 (1.67 linear feet)

The Awards, Honors, and Honorary Degrees sub-series is arranged chronologically by year of award.  Mr. Rodino received numerous awards from local and national organizations over the course of his career.  Included in these records are the physical manifestation of the award, as well as correspondence and ephemera related to the event, where applicable.  Honors of note bestowed on Mr. Rodino include: the Justinian Society of Lawyers Man of the Year Award, Leaguers Award, Jefferson-Jackson Day Dinner Democrat of the Year Award and NAACP Walter White Award.  Materials related to the unveiling of Mr. Rodino’s portrait in the Judiciary Committee’s chambers can be found in this sub-series, as well as the proceedings for the dedication of the Peter W. Rodino, Jr. Federal Building.  As Mr. Rodino often made a speech at the event at which he was presented with the award, the Press and Public Relations Series contains related and supplementary information in the Speech sub-series.  Three-dimensional objects including plaques were retained as artifacts in the Memorabilia series.
