Professor Thomas Healy was interviewed by the New York Times to give his opinion on the New Jersey Superior Court’s dismissal of a ruling that signs critical of Joe Biden containing profanity were obscene. A municipal judge had ordered that the signs must be taken down or the homeowner would face a fine of $250 per day. The superior court’s decision reversed that ruling. In an earlier interview in the ABA Journal, Healy predicted that the ruling would not stand. His prediction turned out to be correct. In the New York Times article Healy stated, “I’m not surprised … They never should have brought the case to begin with.”
