Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, lasting from one sighting of the crescent moon to the next. This year the observance begins in the United States on the evening of Thursday, April 23, and ends on the evening of Saturday, May 23.

For Muslims worldwide, Ramadan is a month of fasting, prayer, reflection and community. A commemoration of Muhammad's first revelation, the annual observance of Ramadan is regarded as one of the Five Pillars of Islam. The daily fast is broken with an evening meal, iftar, often a joyful gathering with family and friends, made difficult this year by social distancing. May this holy month bring the solace of faith during a time of pandemic.

Wishing all Muslim members of the Seton Hall Law School family…
