Seton Hall Law School Kicks Off Fourth Annual Gaming Law, Compliance, and Integrity Bootcamp With Record Attendance
March 7, 2023
Seton Hall University School of Law’s groundbreaking program, the annual Gaming Law, Compliance, and Integrity Bootcamp, is now underway. This year’s record attendance, with over 100 participants, signals a growing demand in the gaming industry for in-depth education about compliance, integrity, and ethics. The event aims to promote legal compliance and integrity in the gaming industry by educating industry professionals and law students aspiring to practice in the field.
The Bootcamp is designed to enhance understanding of how to foster an ethical business culture; expand knowledge of the history, structure, and future of the gaming industry; teach key aspects of U.S. and E.U. gaming regulatory frameworks; and share specific tools and best practices to prevent, detect, and mitigate corruption and fraud in gaming.
"As a leading law school and recognized leader in compliance education, Seton Hall Law School is proud to present our fourth annual Bootcamp,” said Devon Corneal, Assistant Dean for Gaming, Hospitality, Entertainment & Sports Law at Seton Hall Law School. “This intense, interactive event will ensure that industry professionals explore a range of critical topics, from responsible gambling to anti-corruption.”
Funding for the program has been provided by Entain Foundation, a first-of-its-kind nonprofit dedicated to promoting responsible gambling, sports integrity, and corporate compliance. In addition, U.S. Bronze Sponsorship funding has been provided by BETMGM.
"The long-term sustainability of the gambling industry depends on robust regulation and enhanced consumer protection. This is why we need dedicated and skilled professionals in regulatory affairs and compliance,” said Martin Lycka, SVP for American Regulatory Affairs and Responsible Gambling for Entain and Trustee for Entain Foundation U.S. “ Educating these professionals and inspiring them to rededicate their focus on compliance and integrity is a key objective of the Bootcamp.”
By launching the groundbreaking program in March 2020, Seton Hall Law School was one of the first higher education institutions to connect its students and community members with compliance and regulatory executives from the legal gaming industry in a formal, educational setting.
Throughout the two-day event, attendees examine gaming-related laws and regulations alongside other compliance and ethics officers, legal counsel, gaming consultants, and regulatory professionals. Topics covered at the Bootcamp include responsible gambling, AML compliance, esports, anti-corruption prevention, cybersecurity, and more.
This year's Bootcamp features 50+ speakers, all experts in their industries, including sports betting, horse racing, and casino operations, gaming regulation. In addition, speakers include Seton Hall Law School faculty; partners at top law and consulting firms; and leaders of gaming associations, councils, and authorities. A complete list of speakers can be found below.
"This is a landmark event for the industry,” said Bill Pascrell, III, Faculty Member of the Gaming Law, Integrity, and Compliance Bootcamp and Partner at Princeton Public Affairs Group. “The Bootcamp has trained countless gaming industry professionals in best practices, compliance, and integrity, all of which help make the gambling industry more impactful and responsible."
