Hyflex Option for Upper Level Students

Commitment to our current students begins with the first interaction.

If you are a student who began law school in 2019 or earlier, regardless of the program in which you are enrolled, then you are eligible to apply for the HyFlex Option for Upper-Level Students.

Seton Hall Law is aware that students who are especially vulnerable to COVID-19 or live in households with people who are particularly at risk might wish to explore alternatives to in-person instruction.

With that in mind, we are pleased to offer alternatives that will enable you to manage the number of expected days on campus.

Before making your decision, you should be aware that a number of our upper-level courses in the Full-Time Day program, which were previously scheduled in-person, will be offered in an online/remote format regardless of the HyFlex Option. This means that there is a considerable chance that you will not need to spend as many hours on campus as you did before social distancing measures began.

Students who are interested in changing the program that they selected in their application materials should consider the alternatives set forth below. Students who wish to remain in the program that they selected should feel free to disregard this application process. If you are interested in opting into a different mode of instruction, you may fill out the Hyflex Option Application for Upper-Level Students (due July 8, 2020).

After you submit your application, you will be contacted to schedule a telephone advising session that will provide you an opportunity to ask further questions and obtain additional information regarding your choice. Students beginning their second year who wish to enter the Weekend Program will need to be particularly mindful of the changes to their schedule and curricular offerings.

After completing the session, approved applicants will receive an email that will allow them to finalize their choice.

IMPORTANT: As a general matter, FINALIZING YOUR CHOICE WILL COMMIT YOU TO THE PROGRAM YOU HAVE CHOSEN. This means that students electing to enter the Weekend Program will be committed to one academic year of instruction in that program and students electing into the Remote Program will be committed to being in that program for the Fall Semester. While we wish that we could allow students to opt in or out of these programs when they wish, such dynamic change would make it too difficult to create safe conditions for in-person instruction that enables social distancing. That said, finalizing your choice will not prevent you from making subsequent changes if your health or risk of illness change, for example.

The vast majority of students will not wish to make a change, of course, and such students should NOT file an application.
