Health Insurance Coverage

The state of New Jersey requires all full-time students attending an institution of higher education in the state to be covered by health insurance. All law students registered for 9 or more credits will be automatically provided with Accident and Illness Insurance. Students will be billed for this insurance, along with tuition, each semester. The UnitedHealthcare Brochure on the insurance plan is available online.

Seton Hall University requires all students who are covered by another health insurance plan to complete a waiver form indicating other coverage. Once this form is submitted, the bursar will adjust the student's bill accordingly. Only one waiver is required per academic year. Students can waive or opt-in in the Seton Hall student health insurance plan by September 4th. After this date, if you have not waived or enrolled in the health insurance, you will be automatically enrolled in the student health insurance plan without the possibility of a refund or late waiver.

Students in need of health insurance after the beginning of the academic year due to a change in circumstances may contact the Office of Student Services at 973-642-8097.  Already enrolled and need an insurance card, click here.

Law students who are residents of states other than New York, New Jersey or Oregon may also obtain a policy through the Law Student Division of the American Bar Association.

Any questions or concerns regarding student health insurance please contact the Office of Student Services at 973-642-8707.
