Grading Curves   

JD Mandatory Curve for Required Courses

The curve for required courses, effective Fall 2007 and amended Fall 2008, is mandatory except for Professional Responsibility, Appellate Advocacy, and Legal Research and Writing.

JD Mandatory Curve for Elective Courses

The following curve, effective Fall 2007 and amended Fall 2008, is mandatory for elective courses with more than 25 students. This curve also applies to Professional Responsibility regardless of the number of students enrolled.

Grades in the first two categories of the foregoing grade distribution schemes should not exceed 50% of the overall class.

Grades in the first three categories of the foregoing grade distribution schemes should not exceed 70% of the overall class.

Whether or not any of the foregoing grade distributions apply, no more than 3% of the students (rounded up to the next whole student) in any class may receive a grade of A+.

In any class not subject to the foregoing grade distributions, other than clinical, Appellate Advocacy, and Legal Research & Writing courses, the mean and median grade shall not exceed 3.67 (A-).
