Seton Hall Law hosts Opioids: Care Coordination, Transitions, and Engagement
On February 22, Seton Hall Law hosted a one-day conference, "Opioids: Care Coordination, Transitions, and Engagement" highlighting innovative approaches improving transitions of care for individuals with opioid use disorder. The impactful day kicked off with keynote speaker Gurbir S. Grewal, New Jersey Attorney General.
New Jersey has made fighting the opioid epidemic a priority; yet thousands of citizens continue to die each year from opioid overdoses, and many more are at risk because they are unable to find care in the community when they are in crisis or are transitioning from one level of care to another. This conference brought together policymakers, caregivers, and advocates from New Jersey and other states to discuss innovative programs that seek to stem the tide of opioid addiction and overdoses by implementing strategies to connect patients to care across the continuum. The morning panel focused on strategies for improving care coordination and transitions for justice-involved populations, while the afternoon panel focused on promising programs that employ care coordination to facilitate care transitions in the community.
The event was jointly sponsored by the Center for Health & Pharmaceutical Law & Policy, Legislative Journal, the and Seton Hall Circuit Review and was supported by a generous grant from The Nicholson Foundation.
