The Rodino Center IT and SHU Systems Support supports all hardware in terms of its
physical ability to perform its function. If a system fails for any reason (such as
a monitor, drive or motherboard), the RCIT will repair it within a reasonable time.
The timeliness of a repair will depend upon RCIT inner-department considerations such
as projects, repairs, upgrades and events going on at the time, and the RCIT will
prioritize work as it comes in. The RCIT will work with SHU Systems Support and other
University groups to obtain adequate hardware and other devices to meet our computing
needs.
The RCIT, however, is not responsible for "how well" a particular PC or device runs
a piece of software, just that it runs it at an acceptable level. If one PC runs software
slower than another that does not necessarily mandate a repair. However, if it is
determined by the RCIT and SHU Systems Support that a PC or device is performing poorly
due to a hardware problem or system limitation, then it will be scheduled for repair
or replacement in accordance with University policies.
