In the Spotlight - Jason Sumbaly

Jason Sumbaly Institute for Privacy Protection

Meet Jason Sumbaly, an Institute for Privacy Protection Student Fellow 2017-2018

Jason Sumbaly JD/MA '19 was an inaugural Student Fellow with Seton Hall Law's Institute for Privacy Protection in the 2017-2018 academic year. He thoroughly enjoyed teaching young students about pressing issues such as online reputation, reputational harm, the impact of online advertisements, and general online etiquette. Jason has long-recognized the impact of social media, online advertisements, and the proliferation of internet use among young students. The need for education on the way to go about using these new tools is high, particularly for students who are thrust into the expansive world of the internet in their formative years. Most students that have access to the entire internet are not able to properly comprehend the negative impacts that await from over-usage, improper use, and predatory advertising methods littered throughout the internet. Thus, the mission of the Institute for Privacy Protection is timely and extremely vital. Jason’s time teaching students in Newark, Union, and New York City was one of the most rewarding and memorable experiences for him during law school. After graduating in May 2019, Jason studied for the bar, travelled, and caught up on some much needed rest and relaxation. In October 2019, Jason will start as an Associate at McCarter & English in the Insurance Recovery Group.
