Journals
Joining a law journal is an excellent opportunity for JD students to enhance their
academic careers. Seton Hall Law has two law journals: the Seton Hall Law Review and
the Legislative Journal.
The Seton Hall Law Review
A nationally recognized, scholarly legal journal that publishes critical and analytical
articles on significant, topical legal issues. The Law Review is published quarterly and is edited and managed by a student editorial board and
staff. Students edit the lead articles and write commentary on recent judicial decisions
and developments. Most members are selected on the basis of their demonstrated writing
ability through a competition each summer, based on a combination of competition scores
and grades.
The Seton Hall Journal of Legislation and Public Policy
A journal dedicated to the study of legislation, the legislative process, and public
policy. It features articles by scholars as well as active participants in the legislative
process in New Jersey and the nation.
The Journal of Legislation and Public Policy is published twice a year, including an annual symposium exploring a topic of state
or federal public policy. Students edit the lead articles and write commentary on
recent developments in the legislative arena. Members are chosen in the spring or
summer of their first year based on writing competition scores, grades, personal interviews,
and prior legislative experiences.
I recommend all students to participate in the Gressman Competition because it teaches
important skills of advocacy, teamwork, public speaking, analytical writing, and ‘thinking
on your feet.’ It is such a fun and rewarding experience, providing the opportunity
to get crucial practice, networking exposure, and even accolades.

Casey Morrison ‘25 Being a member of the Seton Hall Law Review has been one of the
most rewarding experiences of my law school career. As an Associate Editor, I was
able to read incredibly interesting pieces of scholarship, hone my Bluebooking skills,
and strengthen my legal research and writing skills. The skills I developed on Law
Review were extremely transferable to the work I performed during my two externships attached

The Denis F. McLaughlin Advanced Trial Advocacy Workshop was a highlight of my time
at Seton Hall Law School, and I am grateful to everyone who has made it possible.
I learned invaluable lessons about trial practice by working closely with an array
of experienced and highly respected professors and attorneys, as well as my peers.
