OCS Events

OCS hosts a number of annual events, which allow students to network, explore career paths, and get to know the wider Seton Hall Law alumni community.

First Year Bootcamp for Incoming Students

First-year students attend a multi-day informational bootcamp in the fall, which covers the services OCS provides—such as resume and cover letter review, one-to-one career counseling, mock interviews, job search strategy, and networking events.

Students of all class years are invited to meet with representatives from various bar associations and learn about the benefits of joining a bar association.

Networking Reception

Law students will have the opportunity to make career connections in a social setting with attorneys from many different legal practice areas and learn about the important work they do.

Public Service Open House

Law students of all class years meet with representatives from public service organizations—including government entities and non-profits—and learn about summer internships and post-graduation positions that are available within each organization.

Diversity Dinner

Students of all class years network with attorneys from diverse backgrounds and learn about DEI in the workplace and the legal profession.

Judicial Reception

Students of all class years meet and network with judges from the New Jersey Judiciary and the District Court of New Jersey as they begin seeking judicial externships and post-graduation clerkships.

Employer Preview

First-year law students meet representatives from law firms that participate in “Pre-Cruitment” and Fall Recruitment to learn more about their summer law clerk programs.

Big Law Mixer

First-year law students network with partners and associates who are Seton Hall Law alumni working in Big Law firms in New York and New Jersey.

I have yet to interview or work somewhere where I am not interacting with a Seton Hall Law graduate and every one I have met has had a successful career and is always so willing to help out and make connections. I can't wait to join that network and help others the way I have been helped.

As a first-generation law student, I am grateful for mentors and suggest all students get a mentor to learn from. I have a 3L mentor through the LEO program and a mentor that is a partner in a Big Law firm that has been very generous with his time and invaluable advice.

Recruit the Best of the Best

Seton Hall Law students not only know the law, but they also know the practice of law. Our skills curriculum includes participation in clinics, externships, and pro bono service, which teach our students to put what they have learned into practice. OCS offers two no-cost recruiting programs designed to help employers fill positions for part-time, summer, or full time positions. Employers may also post a role on our electronic job board.

On Campus Interviewing

Our On-Campus Interview Program allows employers to select the criteria, class year, and application materials of the applicants they wish to see. We do not operate on a lottery system but, instead, offer all employers the opportunity to decide which students they would like to interview. Once you review the application materials and select the applicants you wish to see, OCS will schedule the interviews for you. Our Fall Recruitment Program begins in June, running through early November, and our Spring Recruitment Program operates January through May.

Resume Referral Program

If you prefer not to conduct interviews on campus, you can register to participate in our Resume Referral Program, which allows employers to select the criteria, class year, and application materials of applicants. OCS forwards the requested materials to you and allows the employer to directly contact and schedule interviews with those applicants the employer is interested in meeting. Employers seeking to engage in Resume Referral may do so at any time of year, as well as during our more formal Fall and Spring Recruitment Programs.

Post a Job

Both students and alumni rely on the Job Posting section of our online database, Symplicity, making it one of the easiest ways to reach the largest number of qualified Seton Hall Law students and alumni.

There are two ways to submit a job posting:

  1. E-mail Maria Capra, Recruitment Coordinator with posting details
  2. Register online for a free Symplicity employer account and directly submit all details for the job posting. Once registered, employers have continued access to post job opportunities as they arise.
