Housing Information for Students
Welcome to the Neighborhood!
We want you to feel that, as part of Seton Hall Law School, you're now part of a community, in Newark and beyond. This community exists in downtown Newark, including the famous Ironbound section and its neighboring town of Harrison. It reaches to the Jersey Gold Coast in Hoboken, Jersey City and stretches across the Hudson into Manhattan, and even some of the outer boroughs. It extends into north Jersey suburbs such as South Orange (home of Seton Hall University), Maplewood, Montclair, and Westfield, all diverse and vibrant suburban towns. It also extends into central Jersey suburbs along the North Jersey Coast Line, including the borough of Red Bank, a commuter town (approximately one hour train ride to Seton Hall Law - 25% NJ Transit student discount available).
With such a wide variety of neighborhoods to choose from, and plenty of housing opportunities in each, there is sure to be something that feels right for you. Where to live is a crucial decision and it is not uncommon to have many questions; the Office of Admissions is available to aid you throughout the process as you enter Law School and the Office of Student Services can support you through housing transitions along your Law School journey. It is our hope that figuring out which part of our "neighborhood" is right for you will be easier than you imagine.
Seton Hall’s Off-Campus Living portal aims to aid students, including our graduate student community, by providing off-campus listings as well as a guide to start the process of deciding which off-campus option is best. This online off-campus housing service lists rental housing options from landlords interested in providing housing opportunities to students in the South Orange, Newark and Nutley areas to support students attending school at all three Seton Hall's campuses.
The Off-Campus Living listing site features:
- access to comprehensive property listings with photographs, floor plans, a map demonstrating proximity to capus, a list of amenities, as well as contact information.
- an overview of the types of off-campus housing available.
- information about tenant rights and responsibilities.
- a roommate finder tool.*
- message boards.*
- tips on how to choose a good landlord, living with roommates and safety.
*To email a property, access the roommate finder feature, and participate in message boards, students, faculty and staff must sign in with their PirateNet credentials.
