This semester, I had the privilege of welcoming 304 new students to Seton Hall Law
School, including 36 hard-working individuals in our part-time weekend program. Each
one arrived full of promise, energy, and fresh ideas—ready to embrace the challenges
ahead and seize the limitless opportunities the legal profession offers. They join
a vibrant community of students and alumni who continue to distinguish themselves
and uphold our Law School’s proud and prolonged legacy of excellence.
Recently, the entire university community, including the Law School, launched For All, Forever: A Campaign for a Greater Seton Hall—an ambitious, comprehensive campaign to build upon that legacy. Since Dean Miriam T. Rooney welcomed our first incoming class in 1951, nearly 75 years ago, generations of Seton Hall lawyers have embodied our founders’ bold vision and commitment to the transformative power of legal education.
Our graduates’ achievements exemplify our tradition of excellence, consistently surpassing bar passage rates in New Jersey and New York. We are proud to be recognized as the #1 law school in the nation for placing graduates in federal and state clerkships. Ranked #9 nationally, our health law program reflects the strength of our academic offerings, while our #6 national ranking in moot court underscores a sustained commitment to advocacy excellence and is a testament to the exceptional preparation our students receive.
One of our most impactful initiatives – and a cornerstone of For All, Forever, has been expanding access through scholarships and programs such as the Legal Education Opportunity (LEO) program. Every day, I see our students’ passion for justice, their drive to serve, and their potential to lead in every sector of society. They recognize that a law license is more than a professional credential—it is a license to help others through wise counseling, zealous advocacy, and ethical leadership.
And yet, I also see how financial need can stand in the way of fulfilling that mission. By providing financial assistance alongside robust academic support, mentoring and skills training, we can help ensure a premier legal education is accessible to every deserving student, regardless of background or circumstance. With your support we can build upon our legacy and sustain it to impact generations of Seton Hall Law students to come.
Today, I invite you to be a partner in this essential effort. Your gift to Seton Hall Law does more than ease financial burdens – it affirms our belief in our students’ talent, promise, and power to effect change. Together, we can help them transform aspirations into achievements and enter the profession prepared to make a meaningful difference.
With gratitude,
Ronald Weich
Dean and Professor of Law
