Congratulations on Your Admission to Seton Hall Law

We have designed this page to provide you with information and resources that you will need as you look to join our community. We will update this page regularly as information changes and becomes available. All of us at Seton Hall Law are available to answer your questions and equip you with the resources you need to determine whether we are the best fit for your legal education.

Admitted Student Events & Visiting Campus

Admission to law school is an early step in your school selection process. The biggest challenge is yet to come: finding the proper fit. To help you determine if Seton Hall Law is the proper fit for you, we encourage you to visit campus for a tour or, preferably, one of our admitted student events.

Admitted student events are the best way to get an overview of Seton Hall Law, meet faculty and current students, and tour the law school. We have four opportunities scheduled throughout the Spring, which we hope will work with your schedule.

Friday, January 26 @ 9 a.m.
Wednesday, February 14 @ 2 p.m.
Wednesday, March 13 @ 9 a.m.
Saturday, April 13 @ 9:30 a.m.

To register for an admitted student event, you should go to the ASD Portal and complete the registration form on Eventbrite (the password is included with your admit package, email notification, and online status checker). We welcome your co-decision makers (parents, partners, etc.) to join you as space allows. Some of our admitted student events (particularly February 14) have limited capacity, so we encourage you to register early.

If the above dates do not align with your schedule, please reach out to us via email to request a private tour. We may also have some class visits available.

Admitted Student Travel Stipends

We are once again able to accommodate travel stipend requests for admitted students coming from 180 miles or more away from the law school. These stipends are meant to help defray travel costs related to attending an admit event. If you would like a travel stipend, please email us at [email protected] so we can provide you with the form and preapprove you before you arrive to campus (you must have preapproval from the Office of Admissions prior to receiving a stipend). If you are uncertain as to whether you are far enough from the law school to qualify, we use the default Google Maps directions to determine the distance.

Seat Deposits

All admitted students to the JD program must submit nonrefundable seat deposits totaling $1,000. Most students will have two separate deposit deadlines. Those deadlines were included in your admission folder and notification email. The earliest first deposit is due April 15 and the earliest second deposit is due June 1. All deposits are credited to your tuition bill in your first semester. You may pay the deposits through the seat deposit portal using the JD First Seat Deposit and the JD Second Seat Deposit items, respectively. If you are uncertain of your deposit deadlines or having trouble with your deposit, please reach out to the Office of Admissions.

Students who are deferred from a prior academic year will have the link for their additional seat deposit sent directly to them.

LLM in American Law admitted students must submit a nonrefundable $500 deposit. The deadline was included in your admission folder and notification email. The earliest deadline will be April 15. This deposit will be credited to your tuition bill in your first semester. You may pay the deposit through the seat deposit portal, using the LLM in American Law Seat Deposit item. If you are uncertain of your deposit deadline or having trouble with your deposit, please reach out to the Office of Admissions.

Admitted students to both the JD and LLM in American Law programs who miss their deposit deadline without an approved extension may be administratively withdrawn from the class even if a prior seat deposit was paid. If this occurs, the prior paid deposits are forfeited by the applicant.

Financial Aid

The Office of Financial Aid is housed within Enrollment Services. Financial Aid provides information on financing your legal education, including endowed scholarships, need-based grants (like EOF), and student loans. Financial aid packages will be available to admitted students who have filed their FAFSA beginning in late March.

Housing

If you are relocating to join Seton Hall Law or would just prefer to be closer to the law school, the housing website is an excellent first stop in determining where you will live. We anticipate having more robust information to share in the Spring.

Orientation

Orientation is required for both full-time and part-time weekend students. The orientation program is meant to help ensure your success as you embark on your legal education. Orientation is typically held mid-August.
