With the support of the New Jersey State Bar Foundation, the Clinic focuses its efforts on providing transactional or business legal assistance to small businesses, nonprofit organizations, and entrepreneurs in the greater Newark area. This clinic provides hands-on experience for law students on topics such tax issues, corporate governance, real estate, contracts, and risk management. By focusing on the common legal projects that come with small business entities, students will gain practical skills through client interactions, document drafting, legal research, and other “hands-on” lawyering practice, while also learning the ethical and professional responsibilities involved in transactional practice.

The weekend section of the Transactional Legal Clinic is a 3-credit clinic, with 1 credit for the seminar and 2 credits for the clinic legal work. The clinic seminar meets on Saturdays or Sundays as part of the weekend curriculum.
