DESCRIPTION

Come join us on Thursday, September 26, 2024 for a “no holds-barred,” conversation and networking opportunity for Seton Hall students and friends, especially those in our Gaming, Hospitality, Entertainment & Sports Law (GHAmES) concentration and Entertainment & Sports Law Society (ESLS) and anybody who is a sports fan and wants to better understand what’s going on in college sports.

On Friday night, September 27, 2024, just down the road from Seton Hall Law School, the University of Washington’s Football Team having journeyed some 2800 miles from Seattle, Washington, to New Jersey, will play the Rutgers University’s Scarlet Knights, in the first in-conference game in collegiate history that has involved cross country travel.  Worth noting that 155 years ago, New Jersey hosted the first college football game between Princeton and Rutgers with just 22 miles separating them, and now the first game in this brave new world stretching from Coast to Coast.

This seems the appropriate occasion for Seton Hall University Law School and the Seton Hall University’s Provost’s Academy for the Interdisciplinary Study of Sports to being together a freewheeling panel of the leading experts in collegiate sports law and business to discuss the future and the sustainability of College Sports, now with issues such as: revenue sharing for the athletes; increased attention both in litigation and before administrative agencies; huge realignment of conferences that include two that cover all four domestic time zones; expanded playoffs in the major sports; the possible splintering of the NCAA; and always more money.

WHO IS SPEAKING AND WHY SHOULD I ATTEND

We’ve assembled the best panel of experts anywhere.
