Students enroll in the one-credit ABA Tax Challenge course during the fall semester,
taught by Professor Adam Katz, where they receive instruction in tax research and related writing skills. Teams
of two then work independently on a case study, submitting a 10-page memorandum and
a five-page client letter to the ABA Tax Section in November.
Each year, the ABA Tax Section selects the top six teams nationally from more than
90 J.D.-level teams to advance to the oral competition, held in February during the
ABA Tax Section Midyear Meeting.
