The American Law Institute (ALI) has named Seton Hall Law School Professor David Opderbeck
as one its latest inductees. The ALI is the leading independent organization of prominent
law professors, attorneys, judges, and government officials in the United States,
which seeks to clarify, modernize, and improve the law through the publication of
the influential Restatements of the Law, Model Codes, and Principles of Law.
An expert on technology law, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data privacy,
and intellectual property law, Professor Opderbeck will contribute to the ALI’s work
refining both existing and emerging areas of American law.
“I am honored to join eminent lawyers, judges, and academics in the ALI’s storied
mission of working to adapt the law to a changing world and promoting the public good,”
Opderbeck said.
“Professor Opderbeck’s work has been at the forefront of legal scholarship addressing
the complex intersections between law and emerging technologies,” said Jenny-Brooke
Condon, Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs. “Seton Hall Law is very proud that his
expertise will now contribute to the important work of the American Law Institute
in shaping responses to these critical issues.”
