John V. Jacobi, Dorothea Dix Professor of Health Law & Policy

Seton Hall Law congratulates Professor John V. Jacobi, Dorothea Dix Professor of Health Law & Policy, on his appointment as a visiting professor of law and distinguished scholar at Yale Law School’s Solomon Center for Health Law and Policy this fall.

Professor Jacobi, a nationally recognized scholar in disability, mental health, and health law, will bring decades of expertise to the Solomon Center, where he will engage in research, teaching, and mentorship focused on disability rights and mental health policy. His appointment reflects his career-long commitment to advancing health equity and access through scholarship, teaching, and public service.

Dean Ronald Weich noted, “Professor Jacobi’s appointment is a testament to his extraordinary impact as a scholar and advocate. His work on behalf of vulnerable populations reflects the very best of Seton Hall Law’s values, and we are thrilled to see his influence extend to this national stage.”

At Seton Hall Law, Professor Jacobi has taught courses in health law, mental health law, disability law, torts, and public health law since joining the faculty in 1993. He has also served as Faculty Director of the Health Law & Policy Program and has been widely honored for his contributions, including the American Association of Law Schools’ Elyn R. Saks Lifetime Achievement Award.

Jacobi’s work exemplifies Seton Hall University’s mission of fostering servant leadership, ethical engagement, and a deep commitment to community. His scholarship and advocacy on behalf of vulnerable populations extend that mission beyond the classroom, shaping law and policy in ways that advance justice and dignity for all.

The Solomon Center announced Professor Jacobi’s appointment earlier this summer. You can read more in Yale Law School’s announcement here.
