Professor Marina Lao, Antitrust Scholar
Seton Hall is privileged to have among its faculty Professor Marina Lao, one of the foremost antitrust scholars in the country. She has not only published on a wide variety of antitrust topics over a long and distinguished academic career but has also helped shape competition policies as the Director of the Office of Policy Planning at the U.S. Federal Trade Commission while on leave from Seton Hall. Additionally, Professor Lao has offered invited testimony to the House Judiciary Committee and presented at hearings/workshops convened by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission and the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. She is a member of the advisory board of the American Antitrust Institute and served as Chair of the Section of Antitrust and Economic Regulation of the Association of American Law Schools.
Currently recognized by the Law School as the Board of Visitors Research Scholar and the Edward S. Hendrickson Professor of Law, Professor Lao joined the Seton Hall law faculty in 1994 after over a decade of practice experience in government and in the private sector. She was named the Andrea Catania Fellow for Excellence in Teaching for 2003-2005. In addition to her antitrust specialty, Professor Lao teaches courses on business associations, administrative law, and commercial law at the Law School.
