Seton Hall Interscholastic Moot Court Board Wins Two National Moot Court Competitions

On March 5, 2022, Seton Hall’s Interscholastic Moot Court Board won TWO National Moot Court Competitions, finishing First in both the Bryant Moore National Civil Rights Moot Court Competition and the Gabrielli National Family Law Moot Court Competition.

Third-year students Bryan Castro, ’22 and Fiona Ambrosio, ‘22 won the Bryant Moore National Civil Rights Moot Court Competition, hosted by Howard University School of Law. The team competed in four rounds in the 20-team competition before meeting the University of Maine School of Law in the Final Round. The team was coached by Vanessa Pinto, Esq., ‘20 and Melissa Santos, Esq., ’20.

Second-year students Cailin Harrington, ’23 and Kim Begley, ‘23 also took First Place honors, winning the Gabrielli National Family Law Moot Court Competition. The team moved through five rounds in the 28-team competition before facing off against the University of Dayton School of Law. Jonathan Weisbrod, Esq., ‘16 and Ashleigh Lewis, Esq., ‘16 were the team coaches.

The Interscholastic Moot Court Board also secured a Regional Finalist finish at the D.C. Regional Round of the ABA NAAC Competition on March 5, 2022. Third-year students Stephen Moran, ‘22 and Emily Morgan, ‘22 fell one round short of an invitation to the National Rounds in April. The team was coached by Maggie Delany, Esq., Alison Thompson, Esq., and Jessica Guarracino, Esq., all 2019 graduates of Seton Hall Law.

Finally, second-year students Matthew Wester, ‘23 and Emily Ascherl, ‘23 finished as Octofinalists at the Robert F. Wagner National Labor and Employment Law Moot Court Competition on March 5, 2022. The team also received Best Petitioner Brief honors. The team was coached by Alex Silagi, Esq., ’14 and Emily Sklar, Esq., ’20.
