We have designed this page to provide you with information and resources that you will need as you look to join our community. We will update this page regularly as information changes and becomes available. All of us at Seton Hall Law are available to answer your questions and equip you with the resources you need to determine whether we are the best fit for your legal education.
As you begin planning your transition into Seton Hall Law, we want to ensure that you are fully prepared for your first day of classes. With that in mind, we have planned a unique opportunity to become better acquainted with law school and life as a student at Seton Hall Law. Please join us for Road to 1L on June 18.
Because the program is specifically designed to help prepare you for your 1L year (and thus is only available to students who have submitted seat deposits), it is unlike our other admitted student events. This full-day program will provide you with workshops previewing your 1L year and will help you enter law school at ease and prepared. Essential skills for academic success will be explored to get you familiar with legal analysis, critical case reading, and the Socratic Method. You will get the chance to hear from current students about their 1L experience, section assignments will be given out, and you will have the opportunity to get to know some of the faculty and your fellow classmates. As an incoming student, you are strongly encouraged to attend, although the event is not mandatory.
Law school is a lot of work, but our students also have a lot of fun! Following the formal program, we will be hosting a reception at the law school.
Registration is now available and will close on June 16. Check-in the day of the event between 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.
All admitted students to the JD program must submit nonrefundable seat deposits totaling $1,000. Most students will have two separate deposit deadlines. Those deadlines were included in your admission folder and notification email. The earliest first deposit is due April 15 and the earliest second deposit is due June 1. All deposits are credited to your tuition bill in your first semester. You may pay the deposits through the seat deposit portal using the JD First Seat Deposit and the JD Second Seat Deposit items, respectively. If you are uncertain of your deposit deadlines or having trouble with your deposit, please reach out to the Office of Admissions.
Students who are deferred from a prior academic year will have the link for their additional seat deposit sent directly to them.
LLM in American Law admitted students must submit a nonrefundable $500 deposit. The deadline was included in your admission folder and notification email. The earliest deadline will be April 15. This deposit will be credited to your tuition bill in your first semester. You may pay the deposit through the seat deposit portal, using the LLM in American Law Seat Deposit item. If you are uncertain of your deposit deadline or having trouble with your deposit, please reach out to the Office of Admissions.
Admitted students to both the JD and LLM in American Law programs who miss their deposit deadline without an approved extension may be administratively withdrawn from the class even if a prior seat deposit was paid. If this occurs, the prior paid deposits are forfeited by the applicant.
Orientation is required for both full-time and part-time weekend students. The orientation program is meant to help ensure your success as you embark on your legal education.
Orientation will be August 20-21. More information will be provided by the Office of Student Services as we move into the summer.
The Office of Financial Aid is housed within Enrollment Services. Financial Aid provides information on financing your legal education, including endowed scholarships, need-based grants (like EOF), and student loans. Financial aid packages will be available to admitted students who have filed their FAFSA beginning in late March.
If you have questions on your financial aid awards or have questions about the financial aid process in general, we invite you to book a meeting with one of our Financial Aid staff.
If you are relocating to join Seton Hall Law or would just prefer to be closer to the law school, the housing website is an excellent first stop in determining where you will live.
