Opportunities for Aid

Student Loans

There are a number of loan types available, depending on each student’s specific circumstances.

  • Federal Loans are borrowed through the U.S. Department of Education and include Direct Unsubsidized Stafford and Direct Graduate Plus Loans.
  • Private Student Loans provide additional funding for educational expenses not covered by other sources of financial aid.
  • Bar Study Loans help cover the cost of Bar Exam expenses, including review courses, application fees, and living expenses incurred while studying for the Bar. Explore Student Loans (Links to Loans Page, to be created by SHL )

 

All Seton Hall Law students are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) after October 1 every year. Learn More

 

Programs for Veterans
We are committed to helping veterans, service members, and their families succeed in their law ambitions. The Office of Financial Aid/Enrollment Services certifies eligible veterans and their dependents for educational benefit payments. Discover Veteran Education Benefits
MLS Scholarships

Beginning with the summer 2024 semester, first-time applicants to the Master of Legal Studies (MLS) program may apply for the MLS Student Scholarship. The scholarship has been established to assist MLS students who demonstrate either superior academic excellence or demonstrated financial need and may cover up to 25% of tuition. JD Scholarships

Law school scholarships help JD students cover their educational expenses at little-to-no cost upon the acceptance of admissions essays, eligible LSAT scores, and strong undergraduate GPAs. Students with strong credentials and application materials may also receive scholarships that cover their full law school tuition. If you are interested in applying to Seton Hall Law School, act soon—as scholarship decisions are made on a rolling basis.

Student Employment Opportunities
Qualifying JD students may participate in the Student Employment Program. Eligible students may be hired in administrative positions for various departments in the Law School. Upper class students may also be hired as a Research Assistant for a faculty member or for certain departments. Learn More About Student Employment
Grads in Public Service/Interest Positions

If you are employed by a government or non-profit organization, you may be eligible for loan forgiveness under the Federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF). This program forgives the remaining balance on your Direct Loans after you have made 120 qualifying payments under a qualifying repayment plan. Graduates who are employed by a qualifying employer should complete the PSLF Employment Certification Form for each qualifying position. Learn More

Seton Hall Law School also offers a Public Interest Loan Repayment and Assistance Plan (PILRAP) to recent graduates who are employed as an attorney with a qualifying public interest organization. Learn More
