Loving the LawEstablished by Seton Hall Law’s beloved Prof. Paula Franzese, Loving the Law Day is a reminder that the blessings of liberty are precious and must be cherished and safeguarded. It is a celebration of our community and our connections to each other.

Growing in size and stature each year, Loving the Law is a celebration of the nobility of our beloved profession and the promise of the rule of law. On this 30th Anniversary, Prof. Franzese welcomed the assembly of students, alumni and honored guests and shared her inspiration for the event, "I conceived of the idea after reading Justice Cardozo’s address to the first graduating class of NYU Law School. There he encouraged the new lawyers ‘to love the law and treat it as if you love it.’ I aim to inspire my students to do the same.”

Professor Franzese reminds students that it is an honor and great privilege to be a member of the legal profession. “As lawyers we are uniquely empowered to narrow the gap between what is and what ought to be. At our best, we are hope givers and change-makers.”

Dean Ron Weich gave introductory remarks, welcomed students and guests, and congratulated the first-year students on successful completion of their first semester.
