Seton Hall Law’s Office of Career Services (OCS) regularly provides students and recent alum with the opportunity to network with judges, attorneys from various practice areas in the private sector, public service organizations, and government agencies.
This past month, students had the opportunity to meet and connect with judges at both the state and federal levels at the annual Judicial Reception in the law school atrium. Students interested in a judicial clerkship or internship were able to learn more about upcoming opportunities and what it is like to work in chambers with a judge.
In the fall, registered students met with various attorneys practicing in Labor & Employment Law, Corporate Law, and Litigation during Networking Night. Among the firms represented in attendance were Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi P.C. and McCarter & English LLP, as well as organizations such as Central Jersey Legal Services and Apple Bank. Second-year law student Zanib Razzaq ’26 has attended many events since her first year and shared, “I enjoy attending networking events hosted by Career Services because they provide a great opportunity to connect with professionals from different areas of the law and meet potential employers and mentors. These events also allow me to learn about the various career paths available to me as a law student.”
Also in the fall, students and recent alum filled the atrium at the Careers in Public Service Open House. Among the many public interest organizations in attendance were the American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey (ACLU-NJ), United States Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD), and the Office of Chief Counsel of the IRS. This event allowed students to meet attorneys, many that are Seton Hall Law alums, and discuss various internships and career paths within local, state, and federal government agencies, as well as public interest organizations.
Dean Jacqueline Pirone shared, “Networking Night and the Careers in Public Service Open House were great opportunities for students and the Class of 2024 to meet attorneys and talk about the fields in which they practice. By attending these events, students can not only network to find jobs but also decide what might be a good position to pursue for the summer, during the semester, or even post-graduation.”
OCS provides students with access to expert assistance and career counseling to help meet their personal and professional objectives. In addition to one-on-one career counseling and networking events, OCS offers legal career support through a number of services and events, including mock interviews and a full slate of workshops. Students should pay close attention to their emails to make sure they do not miss any future OCS event. The next event is the Employer Preview on March 20th, registration is open on Symplicity.
