Orientation Information - Welcome to Seton Hall Law!

Orientation provides students with the opportunity to meet professors, get to know classmates and prepare for law school. Orientation will take place on Thursday, August 20 and Friday, August 21. Attendance is mandatory/required for all incoming students. Additional information will be available soon.

Checklist for Incoming and Transfer Students

Orientation information will be available (in two releases) by July 15 and August 5.

Orientation Events

First Release (7/15/26)

  1. Academic Calendar (2026-2027)

  2. Honor Code for Students

  3. Name/Pronouns – Any student who has not yet shared, or who wishes to change, their chosen name or pronouns with Law School Admissions may inform the law school of such by emailing Sheila Gardner.

  4. Telling Our Stories – Orientation Preparation

  5. Introduction to Lawyering (Letter with Orientation Information)  |  United States v. Reid | Essential Lawyering Skills | Global Lawyering Skills (Note: Read Letter first)

  6. Transfer Write-on Competition - The transfer student write-on competition will be administered in two parts.
    • The take-home portion will run from Sunday, August 9 through Sunday, August 16.
    • The in-person portion will take place on Monday, August 17.
    Transfer students who wish to participate must email Jordan Braun by 11:59 p.m. on August 5th to express their interest in participating.

  9. Health Insurance
    • Please read and review benefit information.
    • Please select Waiver Form or Enrollment Form to waive coverage or opt in.  The deadline to waive coverage is September 5.
  10. Disability Support– Law students with any disability or any chronic condition or diagnosis for which they are interested in requesting reasonable classroom or exam accommodations must contact the Office of Disability Support. Those specifically requesting classroom accommodations should do so as soon as possible.
