Entering/First Year Student Scholarships

The Mitch F. Baumeister and Lynn F. Samuels Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to an incoming law student who has ascertained financial need and has demonstrated academic excellence as an undergraduate.  The scholarship will be awarded again in 2024. The scholarship is awarded once every three years and is renewable for up to three years, provided the student maintains satisfactory academic progress.  The scholarship is awarded by the Admissions and Financial Aid Committee; no additional application is required.  
Professor Christopher H. Clancy Scholarship Fund

The late Professor Christopher H. Clancy made a transformational impact on Travis Tormey’07 of The Tormey Law Firm, LLC. Now, Travis is paying it forward hoping to impact future Seton Hall Law students by creating a scholarship in memory of Professor Clancy. The annually funded scholarship will be awarded to a law student in good academic standing and with financial need.

Columbian Scholarship
The Columbian Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 1941 by business and professional men of Italian descent.  Two scholarships of $2,500 awarded annually.  Applications are available in the fall in the Office of Enrollment Services/Financial Aid.

God Bless America Scholarship
Awarded to an incoming JD student with a preference to a veteran who has graduated from Seton Hall University, or Colgate University.  The scholarship is renewable for the second and third year based on good academic standing.

The Matthew F. Hayes Memorial Scholarship
In memory of her husband, Theresa Hayes established the Matthew F. Hayes Memorial Scholarship.  Awarded annually to a full-time JD student with has demonstrated high academic achievement following their first semester of law school.  Amount:  $1,000.  Awarded in the spring semester.
The Patrick Hobbs Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship is made possible by the Law School’s Board of Visitors, as well as select friends, to recognize Dean Patrick E. Hobbs outstanding contributions to the Law School during his 16 years as Dean of Seton Hall School of Law.  Awarded to an incoming JD student, this scholarship is awarded once every three years based on the student's academic excellence and financial need.  The scholarship will be again be awarded in 2022.
The C. Kushner Companies Foundation Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to an incoming full-time student once every three years.  This merit scholarship is awarded based on the candidate's Admissions Application and is renewable for all three years of school, provided that he or she maintains at least a 3.0 GPA.  Will be awarded again in 2024.
The Kathleen M. Miko Memorial Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was created by Kathleen’s husband, Thomas P. Carroll to honor her memory.  Kathleen Miko, ’80 had an impressive legal career culminating in her work with CapitalSource Inc. She also displayed great artistic talent and became an accomplished painter.  This scholarship reflects Kathleen’s belief, and her family’s continuing conviction, that legal thinking, the practice of law, and the legal community are enriched by artistic creativity, and by the skills, insights, and experience of the artist.  This renewable scholarship is awarded to an JD student with a background in the visual or performing arts and will awarded again in 2022.

The Karol Corbin Walker LEO Alumni Scholarship
This scholarship is made possible by LEO alum Karol Corbin Walker.  Students enrolled in the LEO program with demonstrated financial need are awarded a $10,000 grant annually, renewable based on maintaining a required GPA standard.  A portion of this LEO grant for the first year is made possible by the very generous contributions by Ms. Karol Corbin Walker.

Continuing Student Scholarships

American Board of Trial Advocates
Awarded to a third year JD student who has a strong interest in becoming a civil trial lawyer.  Applicants are chosen based on a personal interview, financial need, and academic achievement.  Amount:  $2,000 - $3,000.  Applications are available in the Fall annually.

Association of the Federal Bar of the State of NJ, The John J. Barry Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded annually to a rising 3L JD student, based on their cumulative GPA after the spring semester of their second year of law school, extracurricular activities,  community involvement, and financial need.  Applicants selected for consideration for this scholarship will be asked to submit their resume, transcript and a brief essay.

The Edward D. Benattar Trial Advocacy Scholarship
This scholarship was created in memory of Edward D. Benattar, Esq., who was an associate at the firm of Wilentz, Goldman, & Spitzer.  The scholarship program combines a $5,000 scholarship with a paid internship during the spring semester of the recipient's second or third year of law school.   Students with a desire to pursue a career as a trial lawyer and who also possess financial need and demonstrated academic achievement are eligible to apply.  Applications are available in the fall annually.

The Andrew B. Crummy Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of Andrew B. Crummy by the law firm of Gibbons, Del Deo, Dolan, Griffinger, and Vecchione.  Awarded annually to one or more second or third year students.  Amount:  $3,000 - $5,000.  Applications are available in the fall annually.

The Alfred F. Jablonski Endowed Scholarship
Awarded annually to a full-time JD student who has financial need as well as a personal and academic record of excellence.  Applicants must have strong ties to the Polish Community and submit an essay on the influence of Polish Culture in America.  Applications are available in the fall in the Office of Enrollment Services/Financial Aid.

The Joseph P. Lordi Memorial Scholarship
In honor of the late Joseph P. Lordi, The Miele Foundation awards this scholarship to one student for the second year of law school.  Rising second year students who achieve academic excellence and demonstrate commitment to Seton Hall Law through extracurricular activities and were not previously awarded a merit scholarship will be considered for this scholarship.  If selected to apply, students will be notified of application procedures.  The scholarship is renewable based on maintaining a certain GPA. 

The Kara McCarthy Perry '98 Endowed Scholarship Fund
Created by Kara McCarthy Perry '98, this scholarship is awarded to a student with financial need, who is in good academic standing, with a preference to a student interested in and/or participating in Public Interest Law or Social Justice Initiatives.
The Daniel J. Moore Memorial Scholarship
In memory of Judge Daniel J. Moore, this scholarship is awarded to a  JD student who demonstrates academic excellence and a commitment to community involvement and volunteerism.  The scholarship is renewable based on attainment of a 2.5 cumulative GPA following the spring semester.  Applications are available in the Office of Enrollment Services in the fall, annually.  Amount:  $6,000.

The Judge Lawrence A. and Virginia C. Whipple Memorial Scholarship
In memory of Judge Lawrence A. Whipple, the Lawrence A. and Virginia C. Whipple Memorial Scholarship is awarded in the fall annually to a second year student who has demonstrated high academic achievement and other leadership qualities during his or her first year of law school.  If selected to apply, students will be notified of application procedures.  The scholarship is renewable for the recipient's third year.  Past award amounts have been $6,000 per year.

The Daniel Anderl Endowed Scholarship Fund
The Daniel Anderl Judicial Protections Project established this fund, in memory of Daniel Anderl, with a goal to find and support students who will further the Mission of the Project which is to further the safety, security, and privacy of members of the judicial community and their families. This scholarship will be awarded to a law student in good academic standing, with demonstrated financial need, and with a preference to a student studying and interested in a career in the Privacy and Cybersecurity sectors or within the Institute for Privacy Protection.

First/Second Year Student Scholarship

The Mark T. Banner Scholarship
Awarded to first or second year student who has an interest in pursuing a career in Intellectual Property law.  Student must also demonstrate academic excellence as well as commitment, actions towards ethics, civility, professionalism, leadership qualities and community involvement.  The recipient of the Mark T. Banner Diversity Scholarship will receive $5000 payable for the Fall semester of his or her second or third year of law school.
