Seton Hall University School of Law has been named as having a 2025 Best Online Master of Studies in Law Program by The Princeton Review. Each year The Princeton Review evaluates online Master of Legal Studies degrees (also known as a Juris Master, Master of Science in Law, Master of Science in Legal Studies, Master of Arts in Legal Studies, Master of Arts in Law) based on criteria such as academic rigor, faculty qualifications, student satisfaction, and career outcomes. Seton Hall Law School’s ranking is a reflection of its hardworking faculty, extensive concentration offerings, and the success of its students.

Seton Hall Law School’s online MLS degree is designed for nonlawyer professionals who would benefit from highly developed legal knowledge and advanced problem-solving skills. The legal studies program teaches MLS students how to understand and interpret laws so they can critically evaluate business and legal situations and contribute at a high level to the decision-making process. The program is designed to boost students’ confidence in understanding the law, which impacts their ability to be effective leaders and signals to employers they have a sophisticated understanding of the way that law guides and shapes decision-making across many fields.

Seton Hall Law School’s MLS program allows students to customize their learning experience to best align with career goals and interests. all students begin their studies by developing a strong foundation in core legal areas such as the American legal system, legal writing and analysis, the laws surrounding contracts, negligence, liability and business law fundamentals. To complete the program students may choose to remain focused on general legal studies or select a concentration. Concentrations include: corporate compliance, health and hospital law, gaming regulation and compliance, pharmaceutical and medical device law and compliance, privacy law and cyber security, or sports law and compliance.

Graduates of the MLS program have found employment as consultants, compliance officers, risk managers, contract analysts, healthcare administrators, nurse managers, patent assistants, trademark assistants, pharmaceutical financial analysts, quality assurance managers, supervisors, clinical operations directors and lobbyists. In a recent survey of alumni, 95 percent of respondents believed that their legal-related master’s degree was helpful to them in their career path. 

MLS students have the flexibility to customize their schedules to pursue graduate school on a part-time schedule. Students can take one class at a time and complete the program in two years. Unlike JD programs, MLS programs do not require the LSAT or alternative entrance exam.
