LawNet Portal Access and Office 365 Account

Seton Hall Law School provides a Lawnet portal (OKTA) account and Office 365 account to all faculty, librarians, administrators, and staff for the expressed purpose of fostering workflow and communication among law school community members and outside email users.  Our LawNet portal offers single sign-on access to important resources such as Outlook email, OneDrive storage, Blackboard course management, Banner self-service (address info, pay stubs, tax records) and a number of developing resources such as a Pirate Alert, Sharepoint and Compass attendance management.

Once a completed record is created for you in our Banner HR system, a Lawnet OKTA account is created using the first 6 letters of your LAST name and the first 2 of your FIRST name.  This 8 letter designation is known as your "shortname".

If your last name is less than 6 letters then your code is your entire last name and as much of your first name as needed to reach 8 letters. (Ex: smithjos for Joseph Smith).  If your last and first name together do not consist of 8 letters, then use your entire last name and entire first name. (Ex. bellann for Ann Bell)

Your first time password for our portal is the first 4 letters of your last name in CAPS, then the last 6 numbers of your SHU ID, then ####  (ex.  SMIT123456#### for Joseph Smith).

Please note that your SHU email address is [email protected], (ex. [email protected]).

It is highly recommended that all first time network users change their SHU Lawnet password to something more private and easily remembered. You can change your password by clicking on your name in your LawNet desktop (upper righthand corner) and choosing Settings...  The Change Password box is in the right hand column...
