This course gives you the tools you need to participate in all aspects of internal workplace investigations. Students begin by identifying situations in which an internal investigation ought to be conducted and whether the investigation should be conducted by in-house or outside personnel. Students learn to articulate the goals of an internal investigation and the various steps necessary to achieve those goals, key limitations on the investigatory searches and monitoring of spaces and communications, how to preserve documents and confidentiality, describe potential variations in state and national laws potentially affecting workplace investigations and determine what, if any, actions to take on the basis of the facts uncovered during an internal investigation.
